05/21/2023 - National Showcase - Monterey Park (Los Angeles), CA Jason has shown some nice improvements since we last saw him. At the plate, he swings with some intent and aggression and has an 82 mph exit velocity. He loads his hands well and has a good use of his lower half. He also finishes his swing well. Defensively, Jason is a versatile player who can play infield or outfield. He brings some quickness to both positions and has some arm strength as well (80 mph). Only a sophomore now, Jason has two years of high school ball left to continue to improve.

08/08/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Los Angeles, CA Jason continues to shine on the diamond. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. At SS, feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is firm and presents out front. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact and stays inside the ball through a line drive approach.

06/25/2021 - Baseball Factory All-State Tournament (MS) Jason continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to increase foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to get stride foot down sooner to work on time. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

04/11/2021 - All-In Membership - Orange (Los Angeles), CA Jason is a 2025 OF/2B. Medium frame thin build with room to fill throughout and plenty of time to do it. Primary OF, efficient footwork allows him to move well to the ball with good angles. Attacks the groundball downhill with a clean transfer and release with accurate throws to cutoff man at 66mph. Secondary 2B, showed the same quickness and aggressive approach as he did in OF. Starts with a good pre-pitch routine. Quick transfer and ability to throw from multiple arm slots. Right-handed hitter, begins with an athletic and square stance. Smooth actions and ability to track pitches well. Good separation who rotates well to ball. Good contact hitter who recorded a bat exit velocity of 65mph. With continued growth and development, we see Jason having opportunities to play at the high school level and beyond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
