12/27/2016 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Jason is an athletic catcher who will graduate in 2017. Behind the plate, feet are aggressive and active as he works in line to his target, through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times show in the 2.20 range with accuracy. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He displays soft hands that stick balls in the zone but will benefit by squaring stance up. Athletic abilities are shown off through the blocking process as he uses his body well and moves well laterally and he shows good leadership abilities behind the plate. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive approach. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. At the event, he was 4 for 8 and had a game winning hit in one game. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great attitude, Jason is a quick learner, and works hard to be the best player he can be. Jason has good upside with time and room to progress his game.
