07/10/2015 - 2015 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National East Jason continues to impress on the diamond. Offensively, this RHH works back into a strong launch position. Hands are quick as he whips the barrel through the zone with speed, connecting with hard contact consistently. In the OF, he works lightly on the balls of his feet tracking down fly-balls in the gaps. He works through the ball and has carry on his throws (89 mph). On the bump, this righty has an effective 3 pitch mix throwing all for strikes. FB still sits mid 80's as it has tail and will be hard for hitters to square up. He maintains fluid tempo with sound all-around mechanics. A versatile athlete - Jason is one to keep an eye.

06/15/2015 - National Tryout - Tomball (Houston), TX This solid 2-way prospect continues to impress. With the bat, Jason steps into the box with a purpose. Swing is quick as he connects with strength, resulting in hard hit balls to all parts of the field. He will be an RBI machine and will fit well in a clean-up type roll. At 1B, he puts his athleticism on display. He picks out the hops and gathers smoothly. He has plus lateral range and can make the tough plays to his right and left On the bump, Jason fills up the zone with strikes. FB still sits in the mid 80's as he works to keep the ball down in the zone. Slider has 11/5 shape and compliments his FB well. Jason has a ton of upside with a very bright future ahead of him.

01/16/2015 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Jaekel continues to show as an OF/RHP with improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate is where he has improved the most, now displaying outstanding hitting abilities with well above average power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed as he works to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. He has strength in his swing with baseball exploding off the bat when centered. At the event, he was 4 for 6 with a 3B and 2 RBI. In the OF, he utilizes his quick / athletic feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He was to get behind balls and plays through well with his body, showing big play potential in the OF. Throws are accurate with life and carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. On the mound fastball was in the low 80 range with a quality changeup. He throws strikes with all his pitches, attacking hitters. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. Jason has a promising future on the diamond, possibly as a two-way guy.

07/30/2014 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Jason showed very well both on the mound and in the OF during his time in Pirate City. On the hill, Jason topped out at 86 MPH, he stands over the rubber well, and works in good tempo. He has a long, loose frame, a good demeanor on the mound, and he works both side of the plate with his FB. In the OF, Jason has good body control to the ball, he fields out front of his body, and he takes long strides to the baseball. He takes good routes, works through, and has a strong arm with carry and accuracy to his target. Offensively, Jason has an athletic set-up, a level swing, and direct hands to the ball. He has plus bat speed and pull side pop in his stick. Jason is a solid 2-way player with a bright future.

11/17/2013 - College PREP - Houston, TX Jason is a tall, athletic RHP/OF that will graduate in 2017 and has a lot of potential at both positions. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 7.19 60 time. Defensive abilities in the OF are well above average as he displays smooth / clean actions. He utilizes his quick / athletic feet well in taking proper routes / angles to track balls down. Hands are quick, aggressive, and generate bat speed through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields and shows a feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 78-80 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He throws a split finger but needs to development of pitch. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. With 4 years to further develop, Jason has the makings of a special type player at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
