12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Jason is a coachable 2B prospect who hustled all over the field during his time at the Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City. In the field, Jason shows active footwork and gets into a square position, fielding the ball out in front of his body. He has a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws which allows them to remain accurate and on-line to his target. Jason can improve defensively by working on his lateral movement to improve his range. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting into his load and comes through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed which leads to square contact and line drives to the gaps. Jason can improve as a hitter by keeping his barrel in the hitting zone longer. Overall, Jason is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

07/11/2017 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Jason is an athletic 2B who will graduate in 2019. At the plate, he shows good ability to hit line drives with an athletic, square setup. He keeps his hands high and fires them through the zone quickly. He lets the ball travel and keeps his hands inside which allow him to hit to the opposite field efficiently. He could implement his lower half more which will create power. In the MIF he shows a high baseball IQ and gets a great first step creating efficient angles to the baseball. His feet are active and aggressive as he fields out in front and makes a clean exchange. Throws are accurate and on time to first base. Shortening his arm action will help him get rid of the ball quicker. Continuing to add strength will help Jason improve, but his high baseball IQ and athleticism make him a solid prospect.

11/10/2016 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Jason is a lean, athletic 2B/SS who will graduate in 2019. At the plate he shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing the whole field through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively and adds overall body strength. In the MIF, feet are active / aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through a low approach. Glove action is clean but will benefit by presenting hands more out front. Range will increase as he improves his foot quickness. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard. With 3 years to further develop, Jason has abilities with time and room to continue to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
