07/09/2014 - College PREP - Minneapolis, MN Jason continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At the plate is where he has improved the most, through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with power numbers improving as he learns to use his lower half more. Defensive grade at 3B, have improved as well now showing solid abilities through smooth / clean actions. Hands are soft / clean and displays active feet but needs to continue to increase foot quickness.

11/07/2013 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Jason is a coachable player who continues to develop in his game. Offensively, this righty gets back into a loaded position and waits for his pitch. He delivers the barrel on a level/direct path and squares it up consistently. More lower 1/2 drive will help to generate more pop off of his barrel. Defensively, Jason presents his glove out in front and fields the ball cleanly. He focused on improving his approach on the slow roller by playing through the ball. He has a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball across the diamond. This sophomore is a hard worker who has a lot of time to continue to develop in his game.

07/09/2013 - College PREP - Minneapolis, MN Jason is a lanky 3B that will graduate in 2016. Feet are active as he works to square balls up and displays clean hands. He needs to play through balls more and present hands more out front to continue to improve defensive grade. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Traynor shows a balanced setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to work to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. With 3 years to further develop, Jason has abilities with time and room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
