Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHPPosition Projection

01/15/2016 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Javier is an athletic RHP who competes when he toes the rubber. He is a coachable player who asks questions and has a willingness to improve. On the mound, he works to a tall/controlled balance point and maintains level shoulders. He drives off of the rubber, downhill and stays directional toward the plate. FB has good sink and arm-side run as he fills up the zone with strikes. He works quickly and doesn't give hitters a chance to get settled. Finishing with more extension on his follow through (towel drill) will help to improve effectiveness on the mound. Working to develop his off-speed pitches will help to take the next step. As a hitter - Javier has a square setup with quiet/simple actions. He has good zone awareness and waits for his pitch. He barrels the ball up consistently and drives it back up the middle of the field. Swinging on a more direct path with more bat speed will result in increased power. Camacho brings energy to the field and is a great teammate. He is a few adjustments away from unlocking his potential on the diamond.

11/29/2015 - College PREP - Davie, FL Camacho worked from a sidearm slot, bordering on underarm at times. As a result, he was able to turn his fastball over for running sink action in the 72-74 mph range, and did the same with his changeup in the low 60s. As is often the case from this arm angle, the breaking ball is the pitch with the least reliable action. He threw it in the mid to upper 60s and it broke gradually across the zone with flat, sweepy action. He appeared to have the best feel for his fastball, with the change next in line. He kept his eyes on target and did a good job of maintaining direction to the target. He used his lower half well from the windup, but tended to rush some from the stretch. Overall, fastball life and the ability to back off on a good change from a unique arm angle gives him a chance to be an effective option on the mound.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
