01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (TX) Javier continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. At SS, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth/fluid actions. Feet are active as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying well above average power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach, flashing gap to gap pop. On the mound, this righty has a 3 pitch arsenal in which to keep hitters guessing. Fastball shows a range of 75-78 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches, working both sides of the plate.

01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Javier is an athletic 2021 2-way prospect. At SS, Javier is on time with his prep step, presents a low/early glove, and creates angles to the ball. He has a clean exchange and makes accurate throws from multiple arm angles. At the plate, he starts in a tall stance, has a simple load, and gets to balance with his lower half. He has a compact swing and looks to drive the ball to all fields. On the bump, Javier gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and has a quick arm action. He throws his fastball to both sides of the plate and has a plus breaking ball. Javier is highly motivated and we hope to see his progress in the future.

01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Javier continues to show a promising future on the diamond. At SS, he displays proper footwork in attacking and playing through balls. Hands are soft/sure and present well out front. Feet/hands work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick generating bat speed through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a plus feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 78-81 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Javier has a ton of potential and will get looks from collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

01/12/2018 - 2018 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Javier showed well as a hitter at the All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting into his load and finishes with a firm front side in his lower half. He takes a level swing with good extension through the ball which leads to consistent contact. Javier is a skilled prospect who has upside on the diamond.

10/30/2016 - Interactive Video Program - Corpus Christi, TX Javier continues to improve his skills at the SS/RHP position. At SS, he displays good pre-pitch movement. He tracks the ball well into his glove as he turns smooth double plays. On the mound, this righty pounds the zone with his FB. He has a 3-pitch mix, throwing a CB with depth and a CH that stays down in the zone. With the bat, Javier displays a solid setup. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
