05/12/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Tampa, FL Javier is a young, 2-way player who plays 1st base and RHP. In the INF, Javier has active footwork to the ball, he takes good angles, and keeps it in front of his body. He has firm hands, a clean exchange, and throws with accuracy from a long arm action to his target. On the mound, Javier has good balance, a clean arm circle, and he gets good extension on his pitches. He separates on time, has a controlled landing toward the plate, and competes in the zone. Offensively, Javier has a tall/square set-up, a short stride, and good balance. He keeps a still head, has a short/direct swing path, and hits well to the pull side. Overall skills can improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Play more through
2. Fielding position
3. Release
Pitching

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
