11/08/2019 - Baseball Factory's Fall Classic Tournament at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Javier is a coachable 1B/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Fall Classic at Pirate City. In the field, Javier takes a good first step and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a quick exchange and throws from a high 3/4 angle, keeping his throws accurate to his target. Getting into a more athletic ready position can help Javier improve defensively. At the plate, this switch hitter sets up in a relaxed stance and takes a square stride. He gets his hands activated well and remains centered in his lower half, producing solid contact to his pull side. Javier can improve as a hitter by getting his stride foot down sooner. On the mound, Javier gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and stays inline towards the plate. Javier shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 56mph with sinking action. Changeup sits from 52-53mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Long tossing to build up his arm strength can help Javier improve as a pitcher. Overall, Javier is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.
