12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory West Coast Winter Classic (Ages 12-14) Javier is a coachable 2B/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the West Coast Winter Classic. In the field, Javier takes a good first step and shows efficient footwork. He gets into a low position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a two-handed exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate to his target. Long tossing to build up his arm strength can help Javier improve defensively. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an athletic stance with his hands held low. He gets into a simple load and drives through well with his lower half. He gets good extension through the ball, leading to consistent contact to all fields. Javier can improve as a hitter by working a smoother rhythm into his load. On the mound, Javier gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He stays inline towards the plate and finishes square to his target. Javier shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 56mph. Breaking ball sits at 50mph with 10-4 break. Lengthening his arm action can help Javier improve as a pitcher. With four more years to develop, Javier has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.
