04/11/2021 - Official Player Development Membership - Colorado Springs, CO Javin is a RHP/SS prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. On the mound, Javin gathers over the rubber and works inline toward the plate, finishing with his chest over his front knee. He operates with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 65mph. Breaking ball sits from 55-56mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 58-61mph. Loosening his arm action can help Javin improve his pitch command and velocity. At SS, Javin shows fluid footwork and moves well to his backhand side. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he gets rid of the ball quickly, making accurate/on-line throws through his target. Javin can build up his arm strength by long tossing. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He works to barrel up the baseball and uses the entire field well. Working through a more level swing path can help Javin create more consistent contact. With four more years to develop, Javin has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

06/19/2019 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (Ages 12-14) Javin is a coachable SS/OF prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Select Training at the College World Series. In the field, Javin starts in an athletic ready position and shows quick footwork. He fields the ball out in front of his body and gets rid of the ball quickly, working to keep his throws accurate to his target. Javin can improve defensively by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a soft stride. He gets into his load on time and remains centered in his lower half. His hips and hands work well together and sprays the ball to all fields. Activating his hands in his load can help Javin improve as a hitter. With six more years to develop, Javin has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

05/12/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Lakewood (Denver), CO Javin is a young, athletic, 2-way player who plays SS and OF. In the INF, Javin has a low approach to the ball, footwork is efficient, and he moves well to the glove side. He keeps the ball in front, has a clean exchange, and throws with consistency and momentum toward his target. In the OF, Javin works behind the ball well, he makes plays consistently, and collects himself well; throwing with consistency to his cut off man. Offensively, Javin has an open stance, he loads well, and swings in good rhythm. He has a level swing and shows the ability to hit to all fields. Javin can continue to improve skills with work on the following.

Infield
1. Hands
2. Release
3. Arm strength
Outfield
1. Range

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
