09/20/2015 - College PREP - Detroit, MI Jawanza is an athletic 2-way player (2B/OF) who has speed (6.81 60 yard dash). With the bat, this right has a square/balanced setup with fluid rhythm in his hands. He stays connected throughout the swing working to engage his lower 1/2. He likes the pitch on the inner 1/2 and pulls it with some pop. Once on base he's a threat to steal with his foot speed. In the MIF, Edwards has active prep footwork and is aggressive to come and get the GB. He works around the ball, funnels smoothly and has a clean exchange to throw. In the OF, he takes a quick first step and tracks down fly-balls with speed into the gaps. He secures the ball and has a quick release, firing accurate throws into his target. Edwards has skills with upside and is a couple adjustments away from unlocking his potential.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
