01/14/2022 - Baseball Factory's Spring Training at Jackie Robinson Training Complex(Ages 14-18) Jax is a hard working LHP/OF in the class of 2023 out of Lancaster, MA. In the outfield, he took good angles to the baseball which allowed him to make plays and be sure handed. As a hitter, he displayed the ability to drive the ball to the pull side of the field but could learn to stay in his legs more throughout his swing to stay on the ball longer. On the hill, he throws with a 3/4 arm slot with decent mechanics by striding in line to home and finishing with his chest over his front knee. He worked a 3 pitch mix of fastball, slider and changeup. Jax could benefit from programs/drills such as long toss, arm path, pitch grips, towel drills (P), strength, speed & agility.

08/29/2021 - All-In Membership - Brockton (Boston), MA Jax is a tall, lean LHP/1B who will graduate in 2023. At 1B, he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and presents well out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, he shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 68 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Jax has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
