Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/CPosition Projection

12/20/2016 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 1 Jax is a young C/RHP 2022 prospect. As a Catcher, Jax gets into a good primary/secondary stance, shows athleticism behind the plate, and works around the ball when blocking. If he continues to present a low target, relax his wrist to soften up his hands when receiving, and anticipate plays on the field he will become a more complete catcher. At the plate, Jax has a good feel for the strike zone, gets his hands into a strong hitting position and hits with contact to all his pull side. If he continues to work on timing drills, getting his hands back earlier, attacking then inside part of the ball and getting full extension through contact, he will be more consistent hitting the ball to the right side of the field. As a pitcher, Jax has to continue staying over the rubber when he breaks his hands; this will allow him to be on time with his stride foot and following through on his delivery. Jax is hard working player and we hope to see his progress at a future event.

08/07/2016 - Interactive Video Program - Council Bluffs (Omaha), IA Jax is a thin/athletic C/RHP. Behind the plate, he presents quick footwork as he collapses to blocks balls in the dirt. He receives pitches with 2 hands and quickly releases the ball out of his mitt. On the mound, this RHP works in line as he delivers pitches to the plate. He shows consistent rhythm and repeats his delivery. With the bat, Jax strides square as he connects with each pitch. He drives the ball with good contact and pop in his bat. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1.	Quick block and recover
2.	Arm strength
3.	Finish strong on mound
Offense
1.	Load in hands
2.	Lower ½ drive
3.	Smooth stride

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
