Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

01/13/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Jayson is a 2026 1B/RHP who showcased his skills during the BF Rookie PSAA Tournament. At 1B, starts in a good ready position, with an efficient shuffle, and the ability to make routine plays. He worked to center the baseball and presents his glove. He made accurate throws from a high 3/4 arm slot, with a loose arm stroke, and an arm velocity up to 77mph. At the plate, he hits from a tall and open stance with comfortable hands. Activates his hands, with good balance, and gets his lower half through. He hit balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 72mph during BP. During the games, he showed good plate discipline as he drew 4 base on balls. A right-handed pitcher, he gathers over the rubber and works with good direction down the mound. He attacks hitters with a FB that topped out at 75mph with plus command, an 11/5 shaped breaking ball, and a changeup he throws with FB arm speed. Jayson is solid 2-way player who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

07/16/2022 - Baseball Factory Los Angeles All Star Experience (Ages 12-14) Jayson is a class of 2026 1B/RHP. He shows off a large frame that could benefit by getting in the weight room to add athleticism. In the field, he showed solid fielding mechanics and worked through the baseball. Had good throws across the diamond. Arm velo needs some improvement that could come with the help of a long toss program. At the plate, he hit from a tall stance. Did a good job hitting into a firm front side and showed feel for the barrel. On the mound, he did a good job finding a consistent balance point. Tried to engage his lower 1/2 in his delivery. Showed some feel for his pitches. Fastball worked up to 75 MPH. Jayson is a good kid that needs to continue his development. We hope to see him again soon.

12/27/2021 - Baseball Factory West Coast Winter Classic Jason is a strong athletic 1B/RHP in the class of 2026. On the mound, he uses a three pitch mix from the stretch. His FB topped out at 68 with potential for more (76 raw velo). His FB has sinking/cutting actions that can keep hitters guessing. His CB has sweeping action and touched 60 mph. His change (58) has a natural stroke, slight tailing action and showed signs of command. At the plate, he begins with a tall open stance. He loads his hands and hips well. He generates an on plane swing with extension. Jason produces hard contact to his pull side (78 exit velo). Jason is an extremely coachable player that has the make up high school coaches are looking for. He has a very bright future on the diamond.

11/11/2021 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona Jayson is a 1B/RHP in the class of 2026. Defensively, he exhibited efficient footwork with the ability to get in a good fielding position to make the routine plays. Offensively, he uses a relaxed stance with high hands to create good rhythm and get on plane with explosive bat speed to create hard contact with power. On the mound, he displayed confidence and decent mechanics to throw a firm fastball that topped out at 74 mph. Jayson is a strong player for his age who will only further develop his skills on the diamond with time.

06/06/2021 - All-In Membership - Boise, ID Jayson is a RHP/1B who will graduate in 2026. At the plate he showed ability to spray balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity of 70mph. On the mound, he works with good mechanics and a good follow through for his age. 3 pitch pitcher who throws a FB at 63mph, a 10/4 breaking ball, and a developing changeup. At 1B he starts with a good pre-pitch routine and active feet. Showed good range with a quick transfer into a 3/4 release point and works well around the bag. As Jayson matures and develops, we see him playing at the high school level and beyond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
