01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Jayvien is the type of left hander that any pitching coach would love to have on his staff. He displays great mound presence with poise to stay on the attack against hitters and put them away. He pounds the zone with his fastball, curveball mix and command to both sides of the plate to dismantle opposing lineups. His fastball reaches 86mph with good run and his mid 70's slider flashes sharp 1-7 break and out pitch potential. He has a loose, clean arm stroke and has the pitcher's frame to hold up over long outings and seasons. Jayvien looks to be the anchor of a staff at the next level.

07/06/2016 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Jayvien is an exciting left handed pitching prospect who is already an intimidating presence on the mound. From a 3/4 arm angle, he throws a good fastball that touches 80mph already with good arm side run and complements that with a solid slider that he can throw for a strike in any count. He has a free and clean arm stroke that allows him to get good, late movement on all of his pitches. Jayvien also gets quality extension off the mound which lets him throw the ball on a downhill plane, making it even tougher on opposing hitters. Staying directional to the plate will allow Jayvien's arm to stay in sync with his body and lead to better command. Jayvien is a promising, young pitcher with a very bright future.

10/12/2014 - College PREP - Glen Burnie, MD Jayvien is a LHP who has a big/projectable frame (6'2"/205). On the bump, this LHP has a 3-pitch mix coming from a low 3/4 arm slot. FB shows arm-side run ranging from 69-72 mph. He works to a controlled balance point and keeps his eyes on the target. Breaking ball shows 2/8 shape while slider shows 1/7 shape. Getting more glove side lead and extension on his follow through will help to improve abilities on the bump. With the bat, this LHH shows a slightly open stance with good balance. He has rhythm to load and delivers the barrel with bat speed. He likes the pitch on the inner 1/2 and pulls it with pop. More extension through contact will help already strong power numbers rise. Only a 2017 grad - Jayvien still has a lot of time to develop on the mound.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
