JC is a strong, athletic 1B who has a promising future on the diamond. At 1B, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are firm and present well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. Throws display accuracy but need to continue to build arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine displaying well above average hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, (86 mph exit velocity) generating bat speed to and through a short / direct / level swing path, creating extension. Barrel accuracy is a plus with baseball exploding off the bat when centered as he works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. With 2 years to further develop, JC has the makings of a special type player and is a sure player to follow.
