06/23/2018 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Jefferson is a well-rounded 3B/RHP prospect who has a versatile skill set. Offensively, Jefferson has a square, athletic setup with a firm front side. His weight is on his toes and he has a long stride. Jefferson has a middle of the field approach and is developing bat speed. He shows the ability to drive the ball to the pull side with power. In the field, Jefferson has a solid approach and works to keep the ball in front of him. He makes the routine plays and can plays situational baseball. Jefferson receives the ball with firm hands. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with a restricted arm action. He is working to play with momentum through the baseball. On the mound, Jefferson has a balanced, on-time delivery. He works with a good tempo and stays square to home plate. He can benefit from a longer stride. Jefferson pitches to soft contact. His fastball has sink action and his curveball shows medium break. Overall, Jefferson plays the game hard and has potential to advance his game with development.

05/06/2018 - College PREP - Colorado Springs, CO Jefferson is a thick RHP/SS graduating in 2019. In the field, Jefferson shows a square fielding position presenting his hands out front and making quick exchanges into a short arm action (3/4 arm slot) followed by consistently accurate throws to his targets. Jefferson can improve defensively by working on his footwork. At the plate, Jefferson shows a line drive approach. He has a crouched setup with a smooth rhythm and fast bat speed making square contact with the ball. Jefferson could see improvement offensively by creating separation with his hands and finding rhythm. On the mound, Jefferson throws three pitches (2SFB, 4SFB and CB) from an over top arm slot. Jefferson has good, simple mechanics. He shows good balance gathering over the rubber with an on-time separation and extending through the zone upon release throwing with a downhill trajectory. Jefferson stays square to his target controlling his landing and rotating to his target when finishing. Jefferson can improve his velocity by implementing a throwing program. With more development to his game, Jefferson can play at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
