Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OFPosition Projection

07/29/2009 - Under Armour Southwest Regional Tournament - 2009 Hatley showed above average outfield arm strength - throws had good life from his hand, and carried well on line to target. His footwork and body control were both solid, and his actions had some fluidity. Defensively, fits the RF profile well thanks to his arm strength and solid glove. At the plate, he did a good job of making contact deep in the zone - allowing him to use the opposite field and to show power to the pull side. He loaded his hands back well pre-pitch for the most part - needs to avoid tendency to bar his lead arm, this causes him to get a little long and to pull off with his front side. He generated good hip action through contact - needs to avoid tendency to slide hips laterally into contact, this causes him to cut off his stroke early with his hands. Has ability to work with at the plate, and with some adjustments to his approach he has potential to improve quite a bit. Ran 7.42 in the 60-yard dash, only slightly off the 7.36 we saw previously.

07/12/2009 - Team One South 2009 Jeremy continues to show steady improvement in his baseball abilities. He has an idea in his defensive play as his hands and feet work well together. He has an idea in his OF play. At the plate, hands work directly to the baseball as he shows a feel for the barrel, generating bat speed. He did not show on the mound at the event.

05/31/2009 - College PREP - Nashville, TN Jeremy is an OF with a tall, solid, and athletic looking body that shows projection as he continues to physically mature. His body actions are loose, quick, and athletic. Foot speed is solid average and he would benefit by getting on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. His feet are active and aggressive in taking proper routes and angles to track down balls in the OF. Defensive abilities are near above average and will play at the next level. Arm strength is well above average displaying life, carry, and accuracy on his throws. Feet and hands work well together through the fielding and throwing process. At the plate, Hatley has near above average abilities with well above average power. He shows a balanced approach, loads well allowing his hands to work quickly through the zone, generating plus bat speed. Lower half works well and he displays a lot of strength in his swing. Power is shown best to the pull side where he has a solid feel for the barrel. Jeremy has a ton of potential and will catch the eyes of all the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
