Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

01/13/2012 - 2012 Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Jerren showed well during his time at the Pre-Season. Defensively, Jerren showed quick feet, fluid / athletic actions, and soft / sure hands. He fields out in front of his body, gets good momentum, and he can throw from multiple arm angles with accuracy to his target. On the mound, Jerren has a long / free arm action, good mechanics, and he spots his fastball well. He works in good rhythm, he keeps his shoulders level, and his off-speed show good potential. At the plate, Jerren is equally as good of a hitter from both sides of the plate. He has a loose grip from both sides, a solid set-up, and he tracks the ball well. He has good bat speed, he can spray some to all fields, and he makes consistent contact.

12/27/2011 - Under Armour Recruiting Classic - 2011 This week in Arizona, Larimer displayed smooth actions and he gets good extension with his glove in the infield. His defensive abilities should continue to develop as he learns to get his glove down and ready before the ball is hit. At the plate, he has good bat speed and creates consistent line drives. His offensive abilities should continue to improve as he learns to hit against a firm front side. On the mound, he gets good extension, he has inline direction, and pitches well inside. To improve he needs to find a consistent release point. Larimer displayed a coachable attitude and is a player to keep an eye on.

11/06/2011 - College PREP - Salem, OR Jerren is a two-way player SS/RHP with a tall, athletic frame. Currently, he projects best at SS where he has a ton of athletic abilities. Feet are quick / active in attacking ground balls and plays through displaying soft / clean / sure hands. Throws display life, carry, and accuracy across the diamond. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double plays as he has a solid feel for his position. At the plate, Larimer shows an open stance that he squares up through his load. Hands are quick, generating bat speed to and through the ball at contact. He works to stay inside the ball, showing a plus feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off his bat when centered as he displays gap to gap power. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 78-81 mph. Off speed pitches show potential as being quality pitches at the next level. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with gradual break. Changeup shows a plus feel for with sinking action. He needs to work on better command / control to improve stock on the mound. Jerren has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his offensive / defensive abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
