Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • C/RHPPosition Projection

06/02/2019 - College PREP - Columbia, MD Jesse once again showed improvements in his game and now projects nicely as a Catcher/pitcher at the next level. Behind the plate, defensive grades are solid, feet are quick, and he receives the ball well. Jesse has a good set-up, a quick/clean exchange, and he throws with accuracy and carry through to 2nd base. Pop times lowered to 2.15 seconds. On the mound, Jesse has good balance, a quick arm action, and he throws strikes. He separate his hands on time, and lands with a proper length stride toward home. Offensively, Jesse raised hitting numbers to 52 and 48. He has good feel for the barrel, quick hands, and fast bat speed. He stands in well balanced and drives the ball to the opposite field.

03/22/2015 - Interactive Video Program - Bowie, MD Jesse is a young 2-way player as a RHP/SS. On the mound, this righty has a 4-pitch repertoire (FB, CB, CH, CUT) coming from a high 3/4 arm slot. He works to a controlled balance point and keeps his eyes on the target. FB ranges from 57-60 mph while breaking ball shows 10/4 shape. He repeats his delivery and stays directional toward the plate. Changeup has slight arm-side run as he throws it with FB arm speed. At SS, Jesse shows active footwork as he hustles around the GB into a square fielding position. He makes the plays and has a clean exchange to throw. With the bat, this RHH shows a square setup with good balance. He swings on a level path and connects, driving the middle of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Pitching
1. Arm strength (long toss)
2. Arm action
3. Finish with extension
Defense
1. Lower fielding position
2. Glove presentation
3. Play through the ball
Offense
1. Bat speed
2. Let the ball travel

05/24/2014 - Little League® Experience Jesse is a solid young player who has a ton of fun on the baseball field. He sports a decent arm, picks the ball well and makes plays consistently in the IF. He needs to focus on improving his lateral footwork and do a better job in his pre-pitch steps. Jesse is a good RHP who is very balanced, throws strikes consistently and has a good mound presence. He needs to work on his stride and staying closed a bit longer. At the plate he has made great improvements with his stride/load and mental approach to hitting. He barrels the ball well, is a tough out but he needs to work hard to make sure he is ready to hit each pitch if its in the zone, and needs to become more aggressive in the box.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
