Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

06/18/2021 - Baseball Factory All-State Tournament (HS) Jesse is a 2B/RHP who will graduate in 2023. Medium frame with some strength present and plenty of room to develop. At 2B, efficient feet and ability to move lateral. Good rhythm to actions with good fielding angles. Works into a low/square fielding position with some feel for glove pocket. Short arm action into a high 3/4 arm slot with a recorded an arm velocity of 80mph. On the mound, throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with clean arm action. Good tempo and demeanor to delivery who showed ability to command 2 pitches. Flashed a FB that sat 72-74mph with some sink and a 10/4 curveball with some depth. A right-handed hitter who hits from an upright and even stance. Showed an aggressive approach at the plate and ability to make hard contact. In live game action, he reached base 3 times and showed pull side pop with a bat exit velocity of 83mph. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we foresee him having the opportunity to play at the next level.

07/05/2018 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Jesse is an athletic and talented 2023 2-way prospect. At 2B, Jesse is on time with his prep step and creates angles to the ball. He presents a low/early glove, fields in an athletic position, and has range on both sides of the ball. Continuing to practice game like throws in his throwing program will increase his ability to throw from multiple arm angles and on the run. At the plate, Jesse starts in an athletic stance, keeps a quiet head, and keeps the barrel on plane with the ball. He is explosive with the back hip and drives the ball gap to gap. On the bump, gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and has a strong front side. Continuing to work north to south and driving the back leg toward the plate will help him command the bottom part of the strike zone. Jesse is eager to learn and made several adjustments during the week. Jesse will improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

03/18/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Monterey Park (Los Angeles), CA Jesse is a young, 2-way player with a thin frame. On the mound, Jesse has good balance, a loose arm action, and he separates on time. He has a controlled landing, good direction, and rotates through toward his target. At 2nd base, Jesse has efficient footwork, he presents his glove well, and he fields cleanly with consistency to his target. At the plate, Jesse has a square set-up, good balance, and he swings in good rhythm. He tracks the ball well, has some bat speed, and makes square contact. Jesse can improve overall skills with work on the following.

1. Lower body

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
