10/25/2009 - College PREP - Atlanta, GA Jesse is a young catcher with a thin, athletic body that shows projection as he continues to physically mature, filling out. Foot speed is average as he will benefit by getting on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. He needs to utilize his feet more in coming out low to high with feet in line with his target, currently stands up and open to throw. Pop times show a range of 2.19-2.47 with a means of 2.29 and will lower as he polishes and quickens transition through his transfer / exchange. Set up is solid allowing his glove action to work around the baseball displaying slightly above average receiving abilities as he shows some hardness. Blocking skills are solid average as he centers the baseball with his body, deadening in front. He needs to work on his lateral movements and getting his body down quicker. At the plate, Minter shows as a switch hitter but projects best from the right side. Hitting abilities and power are well below average from the left side. From the right side, hitting abilities and power are slightly above average through a solid setup. He flashes bat and makes consistent contact but has some mechanical flaws that are hindering him from reaching his full potential with grades improving quickly with instruction and adjustments. He needs to concentrate his work ethic on the right side of the plate. With 2 years to further develop, Jesse has abilities with a lot of room to improve.
