12/13/2020 - Back to Baseball Program Only - Indianapolis, IN Jesse continues to shine on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.32 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting abilities are now solid through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (89 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side.

11/06/2020 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona Jesse is a coachable C prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Select Training & Competition in Arizona. Behind the plate, Jesse tracks the ball into his glove and gains ground to throw, keeping his throws accurate to the 2B bag. Being more efficient moving to block can help Jesse keep more dirt balls in front of him. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and gets into his load on time. He works through a compact swing with decent bat speed, leading to loud contact and gap to gap pop. Jesse can barrel up more baseballs by taking a more controlled stride. Overall, Jesse is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

10/24/2020 - Fall Pro Training Experience - OH (HS) Jesse continues to shine on the diamond with his baseball abilities. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, but needs to work to get his body down sooner. Pop times showed in 2.55 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine with well above average power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick (87 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for barrel with gap-to-gap pop. At the event, he was 1 for 2 with a BB. Mental makeup is plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

10/04/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Rosemont (Chicago), IL Jesse is a C/3B prospect who will graduate in 2022. Behind the plate, Jesse shows efficient footwork and centers the ball when blocking. He tracks the ball into his glove and has a clean exchange, working to keep his throws accurate to the 2B bag. Sitting in a more athletic stance can help Jesse with his receiving. At 3B, Jesse shows a good prep step and centers the ball in the middle of his body. His exchange is clean and he works to make accurate throws to his target. Jesse can field ground balls more efficiently by presenting his glove out in front to the ball. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting back into his load and produces solid contact and line drives. Driving his lower half more can help Jesse produce more pop off the barrel. Overall, Jesse is a developing prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
