02/10/2019 - College PREP - Delray Beach, FL Jesus is a strong C/3B prospect who continues to make improvements on the field. Behind the plate, Jesus shows efficient footwork and covers up well when blocking. He sits in a low stance and receives with a firm glove. He gains momentum well on his throws to 2B, leading to pop times as low as 1.98 seconds. At 3B, Jesus makes the routine plays and flashes a clean exchange. He gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate and on-line to his target. At the plate, this switch hitter shows a solid swing from both sides. He sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting into his load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a direct swing with decent bat speed, leading to solid line drives. Overall, Jesus is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Jesus is a hard working, switch hitting 2020 grad who continues to progress. With the bat, he shows similarly from both sides of the plate. He has an athletic setup with fluid rhythm to load. He has a great eye for the zone and gets on base consistently (getting HBP twice and by drawing 3 walks at the event). When he gets a pitch in the zone, he whips the barrel, squares the ball up and drives it on a line. Added power will come with more lower 1/2 drive. At 3B, he hustles around the GB and into a square fielding position. He tracks the ball into his mitt and gathers well. Continuing to develop his footwork/agility and lateral quickness will aid in his progress at 3B. Jesus is a gamer who still has a ton of time to develop.

12/20/2016 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Jesus is a coachable player who asks questions and has a willingness to learn. He is a team player who leaves his all on the field. In the OF, he hustles to his right and left to track down fly-balls. He secures the ball with 2-hands and has a clean exchange, firing accurate throws into his target. Continuing to develop his foot speed will only help to increase his range in the OF. At the plate, Jesus shows an open stance with patience, as he waits for a pitch he likes. He tracks the ball out of the pitchers hands, into the zone and off of the barrel. He battles and puts the ball in play consistently. Working to engage his lower 1/2 more will help to increase power off of the barrel. Jesus made adjustments from day one and was a quick learner. Only a 2020 grad - he still has a ton of time to progress in his game.

11/13/2016 - College PREP - Davie, FL Jesus is an athletic C/3B who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, hands / feet work well together through a quick / clean transfer exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times show a range of 2.18-2.25 with accuracy / carry on his throws. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools as he continues to develop and get more reps. He tracks balls well, displaying a soft glove and is quick to recover through the blocking process. At 3B, feet are active as he works to square balls up. Glove action is soft / clean and he presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate he shows as a switch hitter but projects best from the right side. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive approach. He makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. With 4 years to further develop, Jesus has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
