08/03/2016 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Trey continues to improve as an OF/2nd baseman in this game. A very well disciplined hitter, he starts with an athletic setup and a well timed stride/load, which allows him to drive the ball to all fields with pop. Keeping his weight back throughout his swing will help develop power even more. Defensively he shows similar skills in the OF and at 2B, creating good angles to the ball and playing low. His arm grades out well for a 2nd baseman (80 mph raw velocity) and will impress scouts. Trey continues to show the tools that will allow him to play at the next level.

06/12/2016 - College PREP - Hoover (Birmingham), AL Trey showed in the OF for the first time at the event and displays a promising future on the diamond. He has improved his baseball tools. At the plate is where he has improved the most, displaying well above average hitting abilities with solid power potential. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through a direct / level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered, displaying gap to gap power. In the OF, defensive abilities are outstanding, showing smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active and aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles. He works to get behind the ball and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. With 2 years to further develop, Trey has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

01/24/2016 - College PREP - Jackson, MS Trey is a lean, athletic 2B that will graduate in 2018 with a promising future on the diamond. In the MIF, he is a smooth / fluid fielder with hands / feet working well together through the process. He moves well laterally, displaying range. Hands are soft / sure as he presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play. At the plate, he shows a squared / athletic setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velo) and work through a level swing path, creating extension. He shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to pull side. Power will continue to increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. With 2 years to further develop, Trey has a lot of potential and will get looks with baseball tools.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
