01/29/2017 - College PREP - Mechanicsburg (Harrisburg), PA Jimmy continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, defensive abilities are now well above average as he displays smooth/athletic actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes/angles and utilizes two hands well through the fielding process. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. At the plate, he improved his hitting/power potential through a squared setup with balance. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 75 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but velocity is too close to fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

12/27/2015 - College PREP - Swarthmore (Philadelphia), PA Jimmy continues to develop his skills on the diamond. In the OF, he has active prep and covers ground with speed - now running a 7.15 60 yard dash. He secures the ball and has a clean exchange to throw. With the bat, this RHH has a square setup with rhythm in his hands. He is aggressive, engages his lower 1/2 and drives the ball back up the middle of the field. More power potential is there as he can increase his bat speed and path to the ball. On the mound, Jimmy has a repeatable delivery and is around the zone with all of his pitches. FB displays slight cut as he keeps it down in the zone. Changeup shows to be best pitch with run - complimenting his FB well. More lower 1/2 drive off of the rubber will help to get more into his FB. A 2018 grad - Jimmy has upside as he enters his sophomore season.

05/25/2013 - Little League® Experience - S. Williamsport Jimmy continues to show consistency in his overall ability. Defensively, his outfield skills continue to improve, with good coordination covering solid ground. He will need to continue to work on reading balls off the bat working on his routes to the ball. At the plate he shows a good idea of how to hit. His contact is consistent with line drive type power. His rhythm was better this year but will need to focus on checking his grip as well as working more of the backside of his body through the ball. On the mound, Beaky showed smooth mechanics with a loose easy arm action. His balance point and direction are sound, but will need to work on lengthening his stride to increase the use of his lower body. Overall, Jimmy is a solid kid who shows great athletic ability, he will continue to improve as he physically matures focusing on his fundamentals.

05/26/2012 - Little League® Experience Jimmy Beaky is a 2018 graduate who plays outfield and also pitches. In the outfield Jimmy has clean hands and takes good angles to the ball. He has quick footwork and shows playable range. Jimmy is a go getter and hustles everywhere on the field. At the plate he has a balanced set up and a short stride and smooth load. He shows good balance and uses his lower half well. He needs to have a better rhythm at the plate to have more consistency, but has a good approach and knows how to hit. On the mound Jimmy has a 3 pitch mix of fastball, curve, and change. His fastball has good arm side run and he attacks the zone with this pitch and throws strikes. His curve has an 11/5 shape and he commands this pitch as well. His change has some good sink and late drop in the zone, but needs to work on locating this pitch better. Jimmy is a competitor on the mound and has a very bright future with his attitude and work ethic.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
