07/26/2017 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Jimmy continues to show steady progress in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, he displays smooth / athletic actions. He reads balls well off the bat and utilizes his athletic feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles. Range is a plus as he covers a lot of ground and shows big play potential in the OF. He works behind the baseball and plays through with momentum to his target and gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate he shows a squared setup and good plate discipline. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Once on base, he utilizes his quick / athletic feet in stealing bases as he gets great jumps. At the event we was 4 for 10. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best he can be.

07/05/2017 - Under Armour Firecracker Classic 18U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Jimmy continues to a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, he reads balls well off the bat and utilizes his athletic feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles. Range is a plus as he covers a lot of ground and shows big play potential in the OF. He works behind the baseball and plays through with momentum to his target and gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate he shows an open setup and good plate discipline. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Once on base, he utilizes his quick feet well as he will steal a base. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best he can be.

12/27/2016 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Jimmy is a lean built, athletic CF/SS prospect who has good speed and graduates in 2018. Offensively, Jimmy has a crouched, athletic stance with a firm front side and centered balance. He has smooth rhythm with his load and takes a square stride. He has a short, direct swing path and maintains a level barrel. Jimmy is a line drive type hitter who produces consistent, square contact. Defensively, Jimmy plays with effective footwork taking the correct angles to get behind the baseball. He fields the ball in a low, athletic position as he presents his glove. Jimmy has a short arm action and throws from a high 3/4 slot. He does a nice job playing through the baseball showing strong, accurate throws. Overall, Jimmy is a talented prospect who has good upside and is a hard worker.

06/25/2016 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Jimmy continues to show improvements in his baseball tools. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now an above average runner at 7.26. At SS, defensive abilities have improved, displaying smooth / fluid actions. Feet are quick as he moves well laterally, displaying plus range in the MIF. He plays through balls aggressively but will benefit by presenting glove more out front. Athletic abilities are shown off on his feeds / turn of the double play. At the plate, hitting / power potential have improved as well through an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Barrel accuracy is a plus with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

01/15/2016 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Jimmy is a coachable, hardworking SS/OF who will graduate in 2018. At SS, he is fundamentally sound, displaying smooth / fluid actions. Feet are quick / active as he works to square balls up, presenting sure glove well out front. He moves well laterally, displaying range in the MIF. In the OF, he utilizes his quick feet well in covering a lot of ground. He takes proper routes / angles and utilizes 2 hands well through the process. At the plate he shows a soft / balanced setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He tracks the ball well and works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a solid line drive approach. At the event, he was 3 for 5. With 2 years to further develop, Jimmy has abilities with time and room to continue to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
