10/13/2019 - College PREP - Baltimore, MD Jimmy continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has an upside on the mound. Delivery is sound / repeatable as he shows good tempo through a strong balance point, allowing his arm action to work quick and free to the plate. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity at 82 mph. Fastball shows a range of 81-82 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 3/9 shape with across break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup and shows a feel for pitch arm side run. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick (92 mph exit velocity) and work through a direct / level swing path. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop.

06/07/2019 - College Recruiting Day - Columbia, MD Jimmy is a strong athletic OF prospect that is to graduate in 2020. At the plate Jimmy starts with a relaxed open stance. His hands start low but get activated quickly to allow for an aggressive but smooth swing through the zone. Jimmy has a small step towards the pitcher when he begins his swing. In the OF, Jimmy possesses all of the tools to be an OF at the next level. On slow grounders he gets behind the ball allowing himself to make strong accurate throws to the respective bag. He comes up and gathers himself well. On fly balls Jimmy possesses good speed to track down fly balls in the gap. Overall, we are looking forward to seeing what this up and coming OF does to develop and contribute at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
