He presented his glove out front and was able to get some momentum thru the ball to the target. Throws had some carry across the infield, though he can work to shorten his release. At the plate, he hit from a wide stance and stayed short and level with his path. Did a good job of hitting the ball the other way, thanks to a coordinated move with his hands and core. Can work to launch a little deeper into his backside, there is untapped power waiting with a fuller and more aggressive move.

11/11/2010 - Pirate City Select Training
Jimmy showed some improvements in his offense during his time at Pirate City. At 3rd base, Jimmy has soft hands, good range, and he makes all plays consistently. He moves his feet well, and throws accurately with carry across the diamond. Jimmy can continue to improve defensively with a strict long-toss program and a higher arm slot. On the mound, Jimmy has a controlled delivery, a free / easy arm action, and his direction toward the plate is good. He works in good tempo, he hides the ball well, and does a nice job finishing off his pitches. Jimmy has good athleticism on the mound, and with a more controlled arm action, and keeping his front side closed, mound effectiveness can continue to rise. Offensively, Jimmy improved both his hitting and power grades from 35 to 38 and 35 to 40. He has good hands, he lets the ball travel, and he can spray to all fields. Jimmy shows pull side pop during his at bats in game play. If Jimmy can stay relaxed, and let the ball travel deeper, more consistently, we could continue to see offensive numbers improve.
11/06/2010 - Accelerated Hitting Weekend (Commuter)
Jimmy is a very coachable player who makes good use of his lower 1/2. He rotates his hips well and he has good posture. If he can continue to stay behind the ball with his chest and continue to lean slightly back hitting will continue to get better.
10/03/2010 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ
Jimmy is a young, 2-way player that plays 3rd base and RHP. He currently projects better in the INF, but is still a very young prospect. At 3rd base, Jimmy has average hands, good feet, and he works around the ball well. He has a clean glove, he plays on the balls of his feet, and flashes a soft backhand. Jimmy can improve defensively if he can stay down on the ball, field it further out in front of his body, and finish off his throws to his target. On the mound, Jimmy has a compact delivery, good direction, and he keeps his eyes to his target. He has good glove side lead, good feel for his off-speed, pitches, and is around the plate. Jimmy can improve his mound effectiveness by staying tall and adding arm strength and physical strength. Offensively, Jimmy has average balance and a level / compact swing. He tracks the ball well and tries to work the ball up the middle of the field. If Jimmy can liven his hands, shorten his swing, and again add arm strength, offensive numbers can get better.
