  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

08/23/2014 - National Tryout - Purchase, NY Jimmy has worked hard and developed into a solid ballplayer. At SS, he shows active footwork in his approach around the ground ball. He covers ground to his right and left, fielding the ball cleanly and working in-line toward 1B. With the bat, Jimmy shows a balanced approach with fluid rhythm. He swings on a level path and utilizes his lower 1/2 well to generate torque. A shorter/more direct swing path will result in increased pop off of his barrel. On the mound, this RHP works to a controlled balance point and drives off in-line toward the dish. FB now tops out at 74 mph as he fills up the zone and throws strikes. He repeats his delivery well and finishes complete. Driving his lower 1/2 off of the rubber will help to get all he has into the pitch which will increase velocity. Jimmy has skills and will find success on the diamond in the upcoming years.

11/08/2012 - Baseball Factory Training & Competition at Pirate City Jimmy is a young 2B/RHP that will graduate in 2016. Currently he projects slightly better at 2B for the next level. Feet are active and he works to square balls up while displaying clean hands. He needs to play through balls more, increase foot speed, and present hands more out front to continue to improve defensive grade. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, Rogers shows a balanced setup with rhythm and good tempo. He is aggressive with hands attacking ball through a level swing path as he makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to work to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more through the swing. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 56-60 mph. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. With 4 years to further develop, Jimmy has abilities with time and room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
