06/09/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory All-State Tournament JJ continues to shine in his baseball abilities at the All-State event. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering ball out front. Pop times showed in 2.06 range with accuracy / carry on his throws. At the plate, he shows a crouched setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields, and strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

01/13/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament JJ continues to show as a prospect with improvements his baseball abilities at the Pre-Season All American. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date at 7.25. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.03 with accuracy / carry (86 mph velocity) on his throws. At the plate, hitting abilities are excellent with near pro level power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick (91 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Power will continue to increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. JJ has potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

04/24/2022 - All-In Membership - Binghamton, NY JJ is a solid 2-way player with good overall skills. Behind the plate, JJ has confident/athletic actions, fluid footwork, and agile range. He sits in low, works around the ball well, and throws with accuracy and strength to his target. At SS, JJ has fluid footwork, a presentable glove, and solid range side to side. He makes plays, fields in rhythm, and throws accurately from a short arm action across the diamond. Offensively, JJ has a square/crouched stance, quick hands, and fast bat speed. He is short to the ball, he makes hard/level contact, and he uses his lower body well. Continued work on load and lower body will only help spike solid hitting numbers.

09/03/2021 - Baseball Factory's All-Region Tournament (HS) JJ is a 2023 C/SS prospect. At catcher, he showed the ability to track the ball to his mitt consistently with the capability to block difficult pitches. He proved he could get the ball out of his glove quickly with a clean exchange keeping his pop time at a 2.2. JJ could continue to improve arm strength and mobility by implementing a long toss program and by working on flexibility in the hips. At the plate as a RHH, JJ demonstrated a relaxed simple approach. He keeps his head quiet allowing him to make consistent contact by being direct to the baseball. JJ has a mature approach and works through the middle of the field. Overall, JJ is as steadily improving prospect who will continue to develop his skills with time.

03/07/2021 - All-In Membership - Milton, NY JJ is a C/2B prospect who will graduate in 2023. Behind the dish, JJ is quick moving to block and covers up well. He sits in a square stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, working to keep them accurate to the 2B bag. At 2B, JJ shows active footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. His exchange is clean and he gets rid of the ball quickly, making accurate throws to his target. Long tossing can help JJ build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and is smooth to load. He works through a level swing with decent bat speed, producing strong line drives. JJ can generate more pop off the barrel by driving his lower half more. Overall, JJ is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
