10/23/2021 - Mid-Atlantic Regional Offensive Skills Weekend (Ages 12-14) Joaquin continues to show improvements with his baseball abilities. At the plate, this LHH has improved his hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. Barrel accuracy is a plus and swings with intent, creating extension through contact. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing and he maintains balance.

06/21/2021 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Frederick, MD Joaquin is a LHP/1B who will graduate in 2027. Medium frame with some strength and plenty of room/time to add strength. On the mound, this left-handed pitcher works exclusively from the stretch. Smooth delivery who keeps eyes on target throughout delivery. Gathers over the rubber and pitches with good tempo. Throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and ability to throw strikes. Throws a FB that sat 47-49mph, a 2/8 shaped curveball and a developing cutter. CB was his best pitch during his bullpen. As Joaquin starts to incorporate his lower half, as well as a long toss and J-band program, his arm strength and command will improve. At 1B, he shows ability to center ball and make the routine plays. Hits from the left side with an athletic and closed stance. Smooth swing, with a flat bat through zone, and ability to keep hands inside the ball. Sprayed the ball to all fields and a bat exit velocity of 59mph. With continued growth and development, he should have a bright future at the high school level.

06/23/2020 - All-In Membership - Frederick, MD Joaquin is a LHP prospect who will graduate in 2027. On the mound, Joaquin gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works inline toward the plate and keeps his eyes on target throughout his delivery. Joaquin shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 44mph. Breaking ball sits at 43mph with 2-8 break. Loosening his arm action can help Joaquin improve as a pitcher. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting into his load and drives through well with his lower half, producing solid contact to the opposite field. Joaquin can improve as a hitter by working on his contact points. With seven more years to develop, Joaquin has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
