Official Scouting Report

  • 1B/LHPPosition Projection

08/02/2018 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 14-18) Job is a two-way prospect who is a leader on the field and always work hard to improve his game. He is a steady fielder at first who anchors the infield with soft hands to pick balls in the dirt. He moves well around the bag to create good angles and is athletic to field with presented hands. At the dish, he has a powerful bat angle through the zone to hit the ball hard and use all fields. He is smooth to load and launch his level swing and extends through contact to drive the ball, especially to the pull side. On the mound, this southpaw features a two seam, curveball mix, both that have good action. He works in the bottom of the zone and is aggressive attacking hitters early in the count. A long toss program will improve arm strength and increase velocity. Job is a talented player who shows impressive potential at multiple positions on the field.

07/09/2018 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Job is a lean, athletic 1B/LHP who has promising a future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying well above average power potential through a tall setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. At the event, he was 6 for 10 with 2 3B. At 1B, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active and he displays proper footwork around the bag. Glove action is soft /sure and he presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves and he increases foot quickness. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 71-73 mph. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break and has depth. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable. With 2 years to further develop, Job has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
