Official Scouting Report

  • 1Class Rating
  • RHPPosition Projection

12/27/2016 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 Joe is a young 2022 RHP/1B prospect from New Hampshire. On the mound, Joe is very competitive and had several efficient innings. If he continues to have good tempo, stay balanced over the rubber, become directional toward the plate, and drive off his back leg, he will improve his overall ability as a pitcher. As a 1B, stays down on the ball, has a clean exchange, and is aggressive off the bag. At the plate, Joe has a simple stance, good balance, smart approach, and uses his lower half. If he continues to stay short to the ball, having a strong front side and create more rhythm in his swing, he will increase his ability to hit with power to all fields. Joe is a well-mannered player and was very popular with the staff. We hope to see his progress in the future.

07/18/2016 - Interactive Video Program - Rindge, NH Allen is a young RHP/1B who graduates in 2021. On the mound, this RHP has a 3-pitch mix coming from a 3/4 arm slot and loose arm action. He has smooth separation, keeps his eyes on the target and stays directional. FB tops out at 67 mph as he keeps it down in the zone. Breaking ball shows 11/5 shape with good action when he releases out in front. At 1B, he shows active footwork and moves well into a square fielding position. He moves well around the 1B bag and adjusts his feet well. With the bat, this RHH has a balanced setup with rhythm to load. He squares the ball up and drives it. Continuing to work on the following will help to improve skills on the diamond.

Pitching
1. Arm strength (long toss)
2. Breaking ball
3. More lower 1/2 drive
Defense
1. Lateral quickness
2. Lower fielding position
Offense
1. Bat speed
2. Contact points

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
