02/23/2019 - College Recruiting Day - Sioux Falls, SD Joe is a tall OF/3B prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. In the OF, Joe shows efficient footwork and is aggressive attacking the ball. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them on-line to his target. At 3B, Joe shows active footwork and is aggressive attacking the ball. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them consistently on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting back into his load and hits against a strong front side. He take a direct swing with decent bat speed, leading to solid contact to all fields. Overall, Joe is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

06/23/2018 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Joe continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth / fluid actions. He utilizes his quick feet in covering a lot of ground and makes the routine plays. He shows good game awareness and does a nice job of backing up bases. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying outstanding power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength and utilizes all fields, with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 70-71 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Control is well above average as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

02/25/2018 - College PREP - Sioux Falls, SD Joe is a lean OF prospect who will graduate in 2020. In the field, Joe shows efficient footwork and gains ground to the ball well. He gets into a square position and fields the ball with firm hands. He has a clean exchange and gains momentum on his throws which allows them to be consistently on-line to his target. Joe can improve defensively by working behind fly balls. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and gets back into his load well. He maintains center balance and brings his lower half through. He takes a direct swing with decent bat speed which leads to consistent contact to his pull side. Joe can improve as a hitter by letting the ball get deeper into the hitting zone. Overall, Joe is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
