08/23/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - St Cloud (Minneapolis), MN Joe is an athletic C/OF prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. Behind the plate, Joe shows efficient footwork and covers up well when blocking. He sits in a square stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them on-line to the 2B bag - pop times at 2.13. In the OF, Joe takes good angles to the ball and presents his glove out in front of his body. He has a clean exchange and works to keep his throws accurate to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting into his load and leads well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with decent bat speed, leading to consistent line drives. Getting more extension through the ball will help produce more pop off the barrel. Overall, Joe is a solid prospect who has upside on the diamond.

01/18/2019 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Joe is an athletic and coachable 2022 catching prospect that was eager to learn. Behind the dish, Joe has a balanced primary and athletic secondary stance. When receiving, he presents a low/early glove, works behind the ball, and stays quiet. When blocking, he leads with his glove and creates a good angle over the ball. Improving hip mobility and anticipating balls in the dirt will increase his range to block laterally. He has a clean exchange and makes accurate throws. Creating momentum in his lower half and taking a jab step will quicken his release. At the plate, Joe starts in an athletic stance, loads his hands back, and has good pitch recognition. He gets barrel flat to the ball and shows a gap to gap approach. He needs to continue to attack the inside part of the ball, create backside drive with his lower half, and stay balanced through contact. Joe has room to grow and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
