07/31/2009 - Pirate City World Series - Session 1 Joe is a young 2B/SS with a short, small body that shows projection as he continues to physically mature. Foot speed is slightly above average and he will benefit by getting on a speed / agility program to improve quickness for the next level. Feet are active and aggressive in coming to get and playing through the baseball with his feet and hands. He shows solid actions displaying near above average defensive abilities. Arm strength is solid average and he needs to get on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength with carry on throws. At the plate, hitting abilities are solid average with slightly above average power through a balanced approach. Hands are quick and direct, flashing bat speed. He shows a feel for the barrel working to keep hands inside the ball. Lower half works well through the swing. Joe went 5-11 at the event and got on base 9 out of his 14 plate appearances. With 2 years to further develop, Joe has potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.
