07/14/2015 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 2 Joe is a 5'9/135 lbs C that will graduate in 2018. Defensively, he showed a sure glove with an ability to track the ball, and was aggressive down to block and deaden in front. He was clean with his transfer and flexible with his legs to sit. He quietly received and popped as low as 2.18. Offensively, he had good rhythm to his with his compact path and drove with his lower half, at times, to boost pop. He showed a still head through contact and maintained his posture throughout the swing. All in all - Joe is an intriguing sophomore that had 5 hits in 10 AB's at the Cali Select Training & Competition with Baseball Factory.

11/06/2014 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona Joe is a gamer who has a high baseball IQ. Behind the dish, he sits in well and tracks the ball into his mitt. Transfer/exchange is quick as he puts throws on the bag at 2B (pop times now as low as 2.21). With the bat, Joe shows an open setup with a solid base and rhythm to load. He squares the ball up consistently, putting the ball in play and putting pressure on the defense. He proved to be a tough out and battles every at-bat. Joe (2018 grad)is a coachable player who has a solid skill-set and will only continue to improve as he physically matures.

07/25/2014 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City Joe is a talented two way player that catches and also pitches. Behind the dish he has quick feet, receives with sure hands, and has good body control. He stays in line with his footwork and throws to 2nd base, and showed a strong / accurate arm. At the plate he has a good load, nice rhythm, and a disciplined approach. He uses his lower half well and has good barrel accuracy with lots of raw power. Should be a tough at bat as he continues to get older. On the mound Joe works quick and pounds the zone with his fastball. He also throws a developing curve ball that has some late break. He understands the importance of getting ahead and worked hard to control the game.

01/17/2014 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Joe is a young catcher with solid skills behind the dish. Defensively, he displayed a low base, sure/soft hands, and above average blocking skills. He has excellent focus for a catcher his age and can improve by shortening his overall actions when throwing and staying low on his exchange. At the plate, Joe has a solid lower half with good balance throughout his swing. His path is level with good barrel accuracy. He can focus on letting the ball travel and keeping his front side in longer to improve as a hitter.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
