Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/OFPosition Projection

12/20/2015 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 1 cJoe is a very coachable player and is a great teammate with a promising future on the diamond. At 3B, he is aggressive in attacking balls as he works to square up, presenting glove well out front. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles as he works to get behind balls well. At the plate, he shows an open / athletic setup with balance. Hands are loose and quick as he makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side. At the event, he was 2 for 9 with a 2B. With 6 years to further develop, Joe has a lot of potential and will be a fun player to follow.

07/14/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Joe showed at 3B and on the mound for the first time at the event with a promising future on the diamond. Currently, he projects best at 3B for the next level. At the plate is where he continues to show best through an athletic setup. Hands work direct and inside the baseball as he utilizes all fields through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. At the event, he was 2 for 6 with a 2B and 3B. At 3B, feet are active as he works to square balls up, displaying clean hands. He is hardnosed and plays with high energy. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 59-61 with cutting action through a low 3/4 arm slot. Breaking ball displays 3/9 sweeping action. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to throw more strikes. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great attitude and works hard to be the best player he can be.

06/15/2015 - Interactive Video Program - Tomball (Houston), TX Joe is a young (2021 grad) 2-way player as a 3B/OF who can swing it. Offensively, this RHH shows a square setup with a solid base. Swing is quick as he connects driving the ball with pop. At 3B, Joe shows active footwork and is aggressive to move around the GB picking out the hops. He funnels smoothly and has a clean exchange to throw. In the OF, Sanchez hustles into position behind the fly-ball. He secures it with 2-hands, gathers well and makes accurate throws to his target. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Offense
1. Loosen actions
2. Bat speed
3. Lower 1/2 drive
Infield
1. Glove presentation
2. Lateral footwork
3. Play through ball
Outfield
1. Routes / Angles
2. Arm strength (long toss)

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
