01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament
Joe is a prospect on the diamond. This righty has a 3 pitch arsenal in which to keep hitters guessing. Fastball shows a range of 83-86 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. He works tall and drives downhill, repeating well. Control is solid as he attacks hitters, throwing strikes with all his pitches. At the plate, he has strong/centered balance with fluid rhythm to load. He takes an absolute hack (98 mph exit velocity) with power showing best to the pull side. At 3B, he has plus lateral range working from the ground up with smooth actions. Transfer is quick as he fires strong throws zipping (86 mph velocity) across the diamond. Joe will play at a very high level and make an immediate impact.
01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament
Joe continued to show as a prospect at the UAAAPS Tournament. In the field, Joe shows a good prep step and takes good angles to the ball. He fields in a square position ad makes consistently on-line throws across the diamond. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid getting into his load and maintains center balance. He takes a short swing with fast bat speed which leads to hard contact and line drives. On the mound, Joe shows a solid delivery and is aggressive in the zone. He has a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 85mph with good arm side run. Curveball sits at 72mph with 10-4 break. Slider sits at 72mph with 10-4 break. Changeup ranges from 74-77mph. Joe is a skilled prospect who has upside on the diamond.
01/13/2017 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament
Joe is a talented (RHP/3B) prospect who has a ton of upside. On the mound, this righty works quickly and doesn't give hitters a chance to settle in. He works tall and drives downhill, in-line toward the dish. FB cracks the mitt at 83 mph while showing some sinking action. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape with good depth and compliments his FB well. He works the ball in and out and can locate and hit his spots. He pounds the zone and challenges hitters to swing the bat. At 3B, Wonzy has active prep and works around the GB right to left. He presents his hands out in front, gathers well and works in-line toward 1B. With the bat, this righty has fluid rhythm to load with good hand separation. He takes an aggressive hack and centers the ball with some pop. He hits the ball where it's pitched and uses the whole field. Joe (2020 grad) possesses the tools that will turn some heads. He is one to keep an eye on over the next few years.
10/05/2016 - Arizona Freshman/Sophomore Fall Classic
Joe continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a solid runner at 7.31. At 3B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works around and plays through balls with his body. He moves well laterally and presents soft /sure hands well out front. Hands / feet work well together and he gets rid of the baseball quickly with carry, and accuracy on his throws across the diamond. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side. At the event, he was 4 for 8 with a 2B. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 78 mph. He shows a sound / repeatable delivery, working in line and on time allowing his arm to work loose / free to the plate. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 78-81 mph. Breaking ball displays an 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a great teammate, works hard, and is very coachable.
12/27/2015 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2
Joe Wozny showed exceptional ability at the Baseball Factory Winter Classic with his 6'/180 lbs frame. Offensively, he hit from a square stance with good balance and got his hands activated to launch. He was direct with the barrel to contact with loose actions and hand/hip coordination. He generated good bat whip through the zone with strength at contact. Defensively at the hot corner, he made plays with his hands in front, and had a soft glove to receive. He presented the glove well from the ground up and threw across the diamond with strength and carry. On the hill, he threw his FB with tail, and spun a 10/4 CB. He had rhythm in his delivery and kept his eyes on the target to from start to finish. In all - Joe is a great kid that has above average ability to continue adding strength and consistency to, which all signs of intangibles suggest he will.
08/18/2015 - Interactive Video Program - Trenton, NJ
Joe is a skilled 2-way player (RHP/3B) who has a tall/projectable frame (6'0"/175). On the mound, this righty has an effective 3-pitch mix coming from a high 3/4 arm slot and long/loose arm action. He works in-line toward the dish and repeats his delivery well. FB ranges from 72-75 mph as he works it to both sides of the plate. Breaking ball has 10/4 shape with 'slider like' action. At 3B, Joe shows active footwork and hustles into a square fielding position. He funnels smoothly and gains ground toward his target at 1B. With the bat, this RHH has a balanced setup with rhythm to load. He connects with strength and drives the middle of the field, engaging his lower 1/2 well. Joe has a bright future in the game ahead of him. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.
