Official Scouting Report

  • 2B/OFPosition Projection

01/18/2019 - Baseball Factory Spring Training at Historic Dodgertown Joel is a coachable 2B/OF prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Spring Training at Historic Dodgertown. In the field, Joel makes the routine plays and keeps his throws accurate to his target. Getting into a more athletic fielding position can help Joel improve defensively. At the plate, this switch hitter shows a solid swing from both sides. He sets up in a tall stance with comfortable hands. He is smooth getting into his load and drives the ball into the gaps. Joel can improve as a hitter by taking a square stride towards the pitcher. With four more years to develop, Joel has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

11/11/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Davie, FL Joel is a solid, 2-way player who plays 2nd base and OF. In the INF, Joel has playable hands and feet, and he flashes a good backhand. He keeps the ball in front of his body, his exchange is clean, and he throws with accuracy across the diamond. In the OF, Joel reads the ball off the bat well, he makes the routine plays, and has a long arm action to his cut off man. At the plate, Joel is equally as good from both sides of the plate. His actions from both sides are identical. He has a still head, a square set-up, and has the ability to spray the ball to all fields. Joel can continue to get better with work on the following.

Infield
1. Release
2. Fielding position
3. Exchange
Outfield
1. Follow throws
2. Release
3. Quicken feet
Offense
1. Lower body
2. Load/stride
3. Barrel accuracy

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
