07/20/2009 - College PREP - Carrollton (DFW), TX Joel is a two position guy who projects best on the mound. In the infield his hands work ok and he squares up to the ball, but he lacks rhythm and body control. Footwork is heavy as well. At the plate he has average batspeed and solid barrel accuracy. Lower half works in rhythm with hands. Doesn't get loaded up and has some sweep to his swing. On the mound, he has some arm side movement to a fastball in the low to mid 80's and a tight 11/5 breaking ball that he needs to add some depth to. Changeup is a good pitch right now. Loose arm and good separation. He hides the ball well also. The longer he can stay closed with his front side the better velocity, location, and movement we'll see out of him. Needs to improve overall conditioning and athleticism to get the most out of his ability.
