07/31/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Joey is an athletic and talented 2020 2-way prospect that has made several adjustments since we saw him at the San Jose workout. At SS, Joey is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and works through the ball. He has good footwork, he funnels the ball into his body, and has a quick release when throwing. He can throw from multiple arm angles and makes the routine play. At the plate, Joey starts in a relaxed and open stance. He shows good plate discipline and looks to drive the ball to all fields. He needs to continue to be softer on his front foot when striding and create backside drive with his lower half. This will get his barrel inside the ball and improve his bat speed. On the bump, Joey gathers over the rubber, he finds his balance point, and has good rhythm in his delivery. He works down hill but needs to ride his back leg toward the plate and separate on time. He has good movement on his fastball, creates good tilt on his breaking ball when he gets extended, and has good feel for the changeup. Joey will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.
