04/25/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Midland, TX Joey is a 2021 SS. Tall frame athletic build with present strength and room to add more strength. Primary SS, athletic actions who makes it look easy. Quick/fluid feet as he creates good fielding angles. Fields low to high and shows ability to pick out hops. Works through the BH and shows a quick arm from the hole. Quick/clean transfer and makes accurate throws with good carry across the diamond at 88mph. Showed good touch on his DP feeds. Right-handed hitter who starts with an open and athletic stance. Flat bat path through the zone and ability to keep hands inside the ball. Transfers weight well to the ball with extension through the zone. Made square contact during BP with a bat exit velocity of 84mph and some pull side power. With continued growth and development, Joey should have opportunities to play at the next level.

07/18/2016 - Interactive Video Program - Plano (DFW), TX Joey is a young, 2-way player as a SS/C. Defensively at SS, he shows active prep footwork and moves into a square fielding position, tracking pitches into a soft mitt. He picks out the hops, gathers well and has a clean exchange to throw. Behind the dish, he sits in athletically and tracks pitches into a soft mitt. He blocks the ball off of his chest and is quick to his feet. With the bat, Joey has a balanced setup with rhythm to load. He takes an aggressive hack and drives the ball. Continuing to work on the following will help to improve skills on the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
