Official Scouting Report

09/16/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Indianapolis, IN Joey is a tall RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. On the mound, Joey gathers over the rubber and works inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 75mph. Breaking ball sits at 63mph with 12-6 break. Changeup sits from 67-68mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Joey can improve as a pitcher by loosening his arm action. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He gets back into his load well and produces fast bat speed through the zone, leading to solid line drives. Joey can improve as a hitter by driving his lower half more. Overall, Joey is a developing prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

07/28/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Joey is a two way OF/RHP who will graduate in 2020. In the outfield, he displayed athletic actions getting good jumps on balls in the gaps. He works behind the baseball, making a clean exchange into his throw. Best tool is his arm as he delivers strong throws with good carry to bases. On the mound he throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with a repeatable delivery showing a fastball and curveball. He came at hitters aggressively with the fastball and then used his breaking ball as his out pitch. Implementing his lower half more will help him increase velocity. At the plate, he uses a consistent, short load and lets the ball travel before firing his hands directly to the baseball. Joey made consistent contact showing a good rhythm with his hands through the zone. Using his lower half more, will help him generate more power. Joey has time to mature and develop as he will be a prospect to watch.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
