12/27/2016 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Johannes is a hardworking, athletic 2B/SS prospect who graduates in 2018. In the field, Johannes takes effective angles showing good range and fields the ball in a square position. He has smooth hands and a clean exchange. Johannes throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a quick release. His throws are consistent with good strength across the diamond. Offensively, Johannes has an open stance with a centered balance. He has smooth rhythm with a good load and takes a square stride. Johannes tracks the ball well. He has the ability to spray the ball to all fields and uses the middle of the field nicely. Overall, Johannes has a solid skill with the talent to improve his abilities with development.

09/11/2016 - College PREP - Glendale (Milwaukee), WI Johannes continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid, showing smooth / athletic actions. He utilizes his foot speed in covering a lot of ground, displaying range. He reads balls well off the bat and works to get behind balls, playing through well with momentum to his target. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy on his throws. In the MIF, defensive grade has improved. He works around and plays through balls with his body. Glove action is soft / clean as he presents well out front. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Johannes has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

12/27/2015 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Johannes continues to show growth in his playing ability while maintaining the coachable/hard working attitude. In his most recent outing with Baseball Factory, he showed increased range at short with an aggressive approach on ground balls. He showed feel for backhand mechanics and had good athleticism with the slow rollers. He continues to strengthen his game, and should focus on his strength and conditioning. Offensively, he was soft with his stride to keep his body quiet and controlled, and tracked the ball very well. He worked in the cages on utilizing more lower half and attacking the fastball early in counts. Johannes even jumped on the bump, throwing strikes and challenging hitters, keeping them off-balance. In all - we look forward to the continued tracking of Johannes as he keeps the upward trend of growth.

09/13/2015 - College PREP - Oak Creek (Milwaukee), WI Johannes only showed at SS at the event but has improved his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Defensive grade are now solid, displaying smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to get around balls and presents soft hands well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and carry on his throws. Arm strength will continue to improve as he gets on a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power grades have really improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields and displaying gap to gap pop. The baseball jumps off his bat when centered as he creates extension through the swing.

07/14/2015 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 2 Johannes is showing the upward trend of growth from event to event that you look for in a player. Defensively at short, he was efficient with his feet, and on-time to get to his fielding position. He was sure with the glove and had a quick exchange to throw with accuracy. He has good actions that will continue to translate as he boosts quickness and adds physical strength. Offensively, he keeps his head on contact and works hard up the middle with his approach. His core rotates to get the barrel through the zone and with more fluidity/coordination with his hands/hips will boost hard contact frequency. All in all - Johannes is still that same player with great intangibles and energy, while also having the aptitude for change.

11/06/2014 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Johannes is an outstanding intangible player with a great personality and drive for the game. Defensively at short, he made plays by working his feet around the ball with some feel for an approach. He made plays and had decent feel for the game and situations. Working his feet more aggressively to come get and presenting the glove earlier in his approach will increase fielding ability. In the OF, he was quick with his feet and controlled with his body to make plays. He got his body momentum behind his throws and with added strength will begin to throw with carry. Offensively, he was disciplined in the zone and battled in his 2 strike approach. He began to discover his individuality as a hitter and worked to let the ball travel to hit to all fields. In all - Johannes is a ball player that has great passion for the game and will continue to show progress as he fills out and strengthens.

09/14/2014 - College PREP - Oak Creek (Milwaukee), WI Johannes is a young, thin, 2-way player with good skills for his age. In the OF, Johannes has good pre-pitch actions, good body control, and he attacks aggressively. He has good energy, catches the ball at its highest point, and throws with a smooth arm action to his target. If Johannes can improve his routes, play more through the ball, and add arm strength, OF skills will improve. At SS, Johannes has sure hands, proper footwork, and he makes plays with accuracy to his target. Playing lower, getting his glove down sooner, and throwing in a downhill plane will help INF tool grades rise. At the plate, Johannes has a balanced set-up, a rhythmic swing, and an activated load. He has direct hands to the ball, a middle approach, and good barrel accuracy. Added physical strength and more lower body will only help hitting numbers rise.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
