06/15/2013 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 John had a solid week and made positive strides on both sides of the ball. Behind the plate, John has improved has arm strength, receiving ability and continues to play with great energy /passion. He received an unfamiliar staff well, is a big sitter to provide a good target and will benefit from scooting up closer to the hitter, improving pitch calling and continuing to work on the footwork to throw. At the plate, John showed a simple compact swing through the zone, good body control during his launch phase and is consistently in a good hitting position at contact. Continuing to work on his stride, using his lower half more aggressively and loosening his grip are the areas for him to focus on moving forward. Overall, John has a very coachable approach to the game and asks a lot of good questions before applying the answer quickly. With continued hard work and a detailed drill package, John is on track of achieving his goal of playing at the next level.
