01/18/2019 - 2019 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament JC is an OF/2B prospect who showed well at the All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament. In the field, JC takes a good first step and fields with sure hands. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, getting good carry on his throws. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance with comfortable hands. He works to barrel up the baseball and displays solid pop. With three more years to develop, JC has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

07/22/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) JC continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now an above average runner at 7.2. In the OF, defensive abilities are now solid as he displays smooth/fluid actions. He utilizes his quick feet well in working to get behind balls and plays through well with his body. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. He shows good game awareness and does a nice job of backing up bases. Throws are accurate with carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he showed as a switch hitter but projects best as a RHH. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

02/04/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Dayton, OH JC is an athletic, 2-way player with a thin frame. In the OF, JC has soft hands, active feet, and he fields in a low/athletic position. He takes good angles to the ball, gathers himself well, and throws with a short arm action with consistency and momentum toward his target. At 2nd base, JC has efficient footwork, a clean glove, and he keeps his eyes to the ball. He presents his glove early, has a clean exchange, and an accurate arm across the diamond. Offensively, JC has a square set-up, a proper load, and a still head. He is an aggressive hitter who makes square contact and hits hard to the pull side. JC can get better with work on the following.

Outfield
1. Play lower
2. Quicken feet
3. Long toss
Infield
1. Double plays
2. Play more through
3. Backhand
Offense
1. Balance
2. Rhythm/timing
3. Lower body

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
