  • 3BPosition Projection

03/08/2020 - College PREP - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD John Lee continues to shine on the diamond. At the plate is where he continues to show best through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work to and through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel through a solid line drive approach. At 3B, feet are active as he attacks balls and play through with his body. Glove action is clean but will benefit by presenting earlier and more out front. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate, flashing carry but will benefit by builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

12/07/2019 - Mid-Atlantic Regional Offensive Skills Weekend (Ages 14-18) John Lee is a 3B prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Accelerated Training Weekend. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid getting into his load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed and good extension through the ball, leading to loud contact and gap to gap pop. Overall, John Lee is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

05/20/2018 - College PREP - Gambrills, MD John is a lean 3B who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying well above average hitting abilities with outstanding power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are strong and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields, flashing gap-to-gap pop. At 3B, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active and displays proper footwork as he plays through balls with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, John has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
