01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament John continues to show a promising future on the diamond with the makings of a special type player at the next level. In the OF (a 6.64 runner) not many balls get down that are hit his way. Transfer exchange is smooth as he zips throws on a line through his target. He has the versatility to play all 3 OF spots effectively. A LHH - he stands in with a solid/strong base and has fluid rhythm to load. Barrel delivery is short/quick with aggression as he connects with power driving all parts of the field.

06/06/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National Texas This athletic (5'10"/150) OF continues to shine. With lightning speed (6.50) he can cover ground in the OF as well as be a threat every time he's on base. Defensively, he covers a ton of ground and works through the ball, gaining well forward his target. At the plate, this lefty remains compact, barrels up the ball and drives it on a line. He is out of the box and down the 1B line putting pressure on the defense. This 2019 grad is one to keep an eye on over the next couple of years.

01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament John is a lean, athletic OF and is a prospect on the diamond. Foot speed is tremendous as indicated by his 60 time at 6.73. In the OF, he displays outstanding defensive abilities. Feet are active as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls, playing through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with on line carry through his target. At the plate he displays well above average hitting abilities with solid power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work to and through a short / direct / level swing path, creating extension. He has strength in his swing and he works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. John has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
